Orofino Man Arrested For Allegedly Assisting Teen Who Was Subject of Widespread Search Following Prom

OROFINO, ID - A 26-year-old Orofino man was arrested yesterday afternoon in connection with a teenage boy who was reported missing following the Orofino High School prom Saturday night.  Tyson K. Imel allegedly assisted in hiding 17-year-old Kristian Perez.  An arrest warrant was issued after Perez was located and taken into custody at Imel's residence at 12127 Indio Avenue following a tip that he was at that location.  Perez was charged with being a runaway.

"The arrest warrant for Imel was issued charging him with Providing Shelter to a Runaway Child which is a misdemeanor offense. Imel was located at his residence at about 6:15 pm yesterday evening and taken into custody without incident," according to a press release from the Orofino Police Department.

Imel was processed at the Clearwater County Jail and released a short time later after posting a $1,000 bond.

Perez was the subject of a widespread search after his tuxedo jacket, one shoe, and broken cell phone were recovered near the National Guard Armory where the prom was held.  A tracking K-9 later indicated that Perez may have walked west from the armory for a short distance before entering a vehicle.
