Rescue Personnel Respond to Crash Near Lenore

LENORE, ID - UPDATE at 9:00 a.m. from the Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office:

On April 19, 2017 at about 1412 hours, Nez Perce County Deputies were dispatched to a possible suicidal subject and vehicle crash on Sunnyside Bench Road near the Clearwater County line. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Kristian B. Perez, 17 years of age of Orofino, was later pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Lewiston after being transported from the scene by Life Flight.

NPCSO dispatch advised they received a call from the Clearwater County Sheriff's Office of a report of Perez taking his parents vehicle, a white 1999 Chevy Tahoe, without their permission. Investigation shows the Tahoe to be driving west bound on Sunnyside Bench Road at a high rate of speed with Perez' family following the Tahoe. Perez soon lost control of the Tahoe on the roadway, struck an embankment on the north side of the road, rolled several times, went off the embankment on the south side of the road and came to rest on its tires near the intersection with Pecan Lane. The Clearwater County Sheriff's Office and Clearwater Medics responded to the scene.

"The driver was extricated from the vehicle and air lifted from the scene by Life Flight," the press release says.
