Rescue Personnel Respond to Crash Near Lenore

LENORE, ID - Nez Perce County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of a possible suicidal person driving westbound on Sunnyside Bench Road above Lenore at about 2:08 p.m. today.  According to a press release, the male driver from Orofino lost control of the vehicle, rolling it over a small embankment.  Sadly, we have received reports that the male juvenile passed away at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

National Volunteer Week April 23rd-29th

LEWISTON, ID - Next week is National Volunteer Week. One of the many volunteer efforts in the Lewis-Clark Valley and around the world that is making an impact is Operation Christmas Child. This project collects shoeboxes filled with school supplies, hygiene items, and toys and delivers them to children in need around the world. For many of these children, the gift-filled shoebox is the first gift they have ever received.

Orofino Man Arrested For Allegedly Assisting Teen Who Was Subject of Widespread Search Following Prom

OROFINO, ID - A 26-year-old Orofino man was arrested late yesterday afternoon in connection with a teenage boy who was reported missing following the Orofino High School prom Saturday night.  Tyson K. Imel allegedly assisted in hiding 17-year-old Kristian Perez.

Private Pond May Have Contributed to Flood at Bottom of Rattlesnake Grade Last Week

BOGGAN'S OASIS, WA - A pond on private property a few miles up Rattlesnake Creek may have contributed to a large flow of water and debris that came down the bottom part of Rattlesnake Grade last week, causing significant damage and closing State Route 129 for several hours.  Officials say the pond, which has been on the property for decades, is believed to have been expanded.

Pre-Mix of Lewiston Applies to DEQ for General Air Quality Permit to Construct Concrete Batch Plant

LEWISTON, ID - Pre-Mix of Lewiston has requested a general air quality permit from the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality to construct a concrete batch plant.  The proposed permit will regulate emissions from a stationary concrete batch plant located at 3900 Industrial Way.

Legislation Allowing ATVs to Cross Certain Highways Signed Into Law

OLYMPIA, WA - Legislation designed to give more flexibility to land owners and local jurisdictions when it comes to the use of all-terrain vehicles on roads and highways was signed into law this week.  House Bill 1838, sponsored by Representative Joe Schmick (R-Colfax), allows eligible ATVs to cross public roads with a speed limit of up to 60 miles per hour.  Under current law, an ATV may only cross roads with speed limits of 35 mph or less.
