Abnormally High River Debris Causes Loss of 94 Juvenile Salmon & Steelhead at Little Goose Dam

DAYTON, WA - A fish separator system at the Little Goose Lock and Dam Juvenile Fish Facility became plugged and overflowed on Tuesday because of abnormally high seasonal debris from the lower Snake River.  The US Army Corps of Engineers says the plugging and overflowing caused the death of 94 juvenile salmon and steelhead.

OSPI Releases Data on Student Attendance & Absenteeism

Clarkston School District's absenteeism higher than state average, Asotin-Anatone's is lower.

OLYMPIA, WA - School attendance is a substantial factor in student success, and the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instructions says while it seems like this notion is intuitive, the state was recently ranked second-worst in the nation for its number of chronically absent students.  Locally, 17.3% of Clarkston School District students were chronically absent during the 2015-16 school year, while only 6.3% of Asotin-Anatone students were chronically absent.  The state average was 16.7%.

Flash Flood at Bottom of Rattlesnake Grade Reduces Traffic to One Lane Near Boggan's Oasis

BOGGAN'S OASIS, WA - A flash flood on the Rattlesnake Grade resulted in trees, mud, and debris closing State Route 129 near Boggan's Oasis early this morning.  The Washington Department of Transportation says the highway is reduced to one lane about four miles north of the Washington-Oregon border after the bridge was covered with the debris.

Idaho Gas Prices Continue to Slide While the National Average Climbs

BOISE, ID - The average price for a gallon of gasoline has increased for fourteen of the past fifteen days across the nation, but AAA says Idaho pump prices continue to head in the opposite direction.  Across the state, prices have been on the decline since March 21st, which may be a partial result of abundant winter-blend fuel being sold to make way for the more expensive summer-blend variety.
