Colfax Man Injured in Collision North of Colfax

COLFAX, WA - A 76-year-old Colfax man was injured in a collision at 1:02 p.m. this afternoon about four miles north of Colfax.  According to the Washington State Patrol, Paul D. Bilderback was southbound on US 195 approaching milepost 43 when a northbound 2016 Kenworth semi and trailer swerved across his lane to avoid a collision with another vehicle stopped in a turn lane.  The semi, driven by 27-year-old Christopher L. DeWolf of Athol, struck the ditch.  Bilderback's 2013 Toyota Tundra then struck the semi's trailer in the southbound lane.

Dynamite Cleared From Myrtle Creek Road on Bonners Ferry Ranger District

BONNERS FERRY, ID - The Spokane Bomb Squad successfully cleared two cases of dynamite from Forest Service Road #633 (Myrtle Creek Road) on the Bonners Ferry Ranger District. The dynamite was discovered yesterday in a section of road that had been washed out; it appeared to have been buried for quite some time.

Culdesac Man Dies in Crash Near Clearwater River Casino

LEWISTON, ID - A 55-year-old Culdesac man was killed in a one-vehicle collision near the Clearwater River Casino early yesterday morning.  According to the Idaho State Police, Conrad M. Claye was traveling southbound at milepost 307.5 on US 95 when his 2001 Ford pickup left the highway onto the right shoulder and struck a light pole at 12:35 a.m.

Clearwater Man Booked For 2nd DUI Following Crash in Idaho County

KOOSKIA, ID - A 36-year-old Clearwater man was booked into the Idaho County Jail after allegedly being involved in a DUI crash at the junction of US 12 and Highway 13 at the weigh station.  According to the Idaho County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Sam AuGello responded to the location at about 6:26 a.m. this morning and discovered an unoccupied 1993 Chevrolet pickup that was located in the landscaping.  The pickup was heavily damaged and it appeared that the driver had been injured as there was a broken windshield and blood inside.

PENDLETON, OR - Maintenance along Forest Service Road 41, also known as Lick Creek Road, is scheduled to begin in mid-April and continue through mid-June.  Travelers can expect to encounter large construction equipment, trucks hauling gravel, and delays of up to two hours in the vicinity of the project.

Architect Selected for Asotin County Fire District #1 New Station Project

CLARKSTON, WA - A Clarkston architect was chosen out of four proposals for the new fire station project for Asotin County Fire District #1.   The Board of Fire Commissioners selected Brotnov Architecture & Planning to design the plans to renovate a Clarkston Heights church building into a fire station. The District purchased the building with plans to turn it into a larger fire station to serve the needs of the community for the next 60 years.

Refresh the Valley Set For Saturday

LEWISTON, ID - The annual "Refresh the Valley" cleanup effort will take place on Saturday.  Volunteers will gather at 8:00 a.m. in two locations - Brackenbury Square between Main and D Streets in Lewiston and Granite Lake Park in Clarkston for coffee and donuts.  They will then disperse to different areas and projects throughout the valley.

Traffic Stop Results in Two Arrests & Discovery of More Than 17 Grams of Methamphetamine

LEWISTON, ID - Two Lewis-Clark Valley residents were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop in North Lewiston yesterday afternoon.  Officials say after a K-9 search, more than 17 grams of methamphetamine were discovered inside the vehicle.  The driver was identified as 37-year-old Jesse Friedley of Lewiston and a female passenger was identified as 41-year-old Tami Reuter of Clarkston.  They were booked into the Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center on a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver.

Two Men Arrested For Alleged Assault and Robbery Last Night in Clarkston

CLARKSTON, WA - Two men were arrested last night following an alleged assault and robbery in the 1600 block of Chestnut Street at around 9:00 p.m.  According to court records, 27-year-old Justin C. Lewis was booked into the Asotin County Jail on charges of 1st-Degree Assault, 1st-Degree Robbery, 2nd-Degree Theft, Weapons Capable of Producing Bodily Harm, Dangerous Weapons, Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Criminal Conspiracy.  28-year-old David L. Rickman was charged with 1st-Degree Assault, 1st-Degree Robbery, 2nd-Degree Theft, and Criminal Conspiracy.  He also had a Failure to Appear warrant for Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer.

According to Probable Cause Affidavits, Lewis and Rickman allegedly assaulted a 34-year-old man and stole his backpack.  The alleged victim told investigators that he had been walking when two males rushed him and proceeded to assault him with what he believed was a metal baseball bat.

Bond Set at $100,000 For Man Who Allegedly Shook 3-Month-Old Baby

LEWISTON, ID - Bond was set at $100,000 for a 21-year-old Asotin man who reportedly admitted to shaking a 3-month-old boy, causing critical injuries.  Derrick Tietze is being held in the Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center on a charge of Felony Injury to a Child.  The baby is being treated at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.
