The Lewis-Clark State College Warrior Pantry is an on-campus food pantry designed to help all students regardless of background or financial need. We provide them with fresh, healthy produce, boxed and canned foods, frozen and refridgerated goods as well as personal hygeine items. Because statistics show that 1 in 3 college students are food insecure, meaning they don't have consistent access to nutritious foods, we believe it is important to their futures to make sure they have access to these resources.
Over the summer, the Warrior Pantry changed locations on campus and was moved into the Student Union/Center for Student Leadership Building. With that move, we have seen a 200% increase in student traffic. This is wonderful news as it means that we are helping that many more students. However, the down side is that we are going through food at an alarming rate. We are an agency partner with the Idaho Foodbank, but unfortunatly the food we receive from them does not meet all of the needs of our students. Therefore, we are holding a food drive throughout the month of October.
