Inmate Escapes From Lewis County Jail

NEZPERCE, ID - A 54-year-old inmate of the Lewis County Jail has escaped.  Law enforcement officials are currently searching for Derek Bost.
From Lewis County Sheriff’s Office:
He is a white male, 5’ 11”, hazel eyes, brown hair,  approximately 180 lbs.  Last seen he is wearing an orange jump suit.  We are requesting the public to please do not pick up any hitchhikers, keep your doors locked and do not open your door to strangers.  He has gained approximately 40 lbs since the attached photo was taken.

UPDATE at 4:46 p.m.: Law enforcement officials are continuing to search for Lewis County Jail escapee Derek Bost. He reportedly jumped into the Potlatch River in Juliaetta.
UPDATE at 4:14 p.m.: Law enforcement officials have reportedly found the related vehicle in the Juliaetta-Kendrick area. Derek Bost is reportedly being pursued on foot.

UPDATE at 3:46 p.m. from Lewis County:
The incident occurred at 1320 hours (1:20 pm) at the Lewis County Courthouse, 510 Oak Street, Nezperce, Idaho on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. The inmate was last seen in a Gray rusty 1999 Jeep Cherokee, State of Idaho License # I 54046 ( It is a capital I for Idaho at the beginning of the license number). The vehicle is missing both side mirrors and missing a front headlight. It is believed that the individual has a pistol pellet gun in the vehicle. Please do not try to apprehend this individual – call 911.
