One Person Injured in Crash at US 12/US 95 Interchange

LEWISTON, ID - One person was injured in a two-vehicle collision just north of Lapwai at 10:28 a.m. this morning.  The Idaho State Police says 66-year-old Christine Johnston of Kenmore, Washington was traveling northbound on US 95 in a 2016 Nissan Juke and took the exit to merge with eastbound US 12.

"Before she finished merging, Johnston attempted to make a U-turn across the eastbound lane of US 12 to begin driving west on Highway 12 when her vehicle was struck," ISP says.

A 2013 Chevrolet C35 pickup being driven in the eastbound lane of US 12 by 43-year-old Randy Berger of Lewiston hit Johnston's vehicle.

"Johnstons vehicle came to rest blocking the westbound lane of US 12," ISP says.

Johnston's passenger, 55-year-old Louis Goodlow of Seattle, was transported to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center by Lewiston Ambulance.

Both lanes of US 12 were blocked for approximately one and a half hours.  Johnston was issued a citation for Inattentive/Careless Driving.
