Lewiston & Clarkston Residents Now Protected With ’Automatic AID’ From Four Fire Districts

LEWISTON, ID - The Clarkston Fire Department, Asotin County Fire District #1, Lewiston Fire Department, and Wheatland Fire District have signed an automatic aid agreement for all future structure fires. The agreement, which had been in the works for about 14 months, went "live" this morning at 8:00 a.m.

Automatic aid is when emergency resources are dispatched from the closest agency regardless of jurisdiction.

"This improves public safety by getting firefighters on scene faster to save lives and property. It also improves firefighter safety by providing additional emergency personnel for incidents without adding cost to an agency’s budget," officials say.
