Lewiston Fire Department has Been Awarded a $60,910 Fire Act Grant

LEWISTON, ID - The Lewiston Fire Department has been awarded a $60,910 Fire Act grant from FEMA to purchase a new air compressor/filling station. With this grant they will be able to replace an 18-year-old air compressor/filling station that is used to fill Self Contained Breathing Apparatus bottles for the department and other neighboring departments.

From the LFD:
This is the second Fire Act grant the department has received in the past 3 years with the last grant replacing all of the SCBAs in the department. These two grants total over $ 366,000.

Chief Myklebust says “these grants have allowed the department to replace critical lifesaving equipment that is nearing its end of life without having to put the financial burden on the taxpayers of Lewiston”. The department will continue to utilize these types of grants to help improve the services we deliver without having to increase the fire departments budget.
