Firework Licenses Up This Year

Washington State

OLYMPIA, WA – It could be a big year for Independence Day fireworks. The Washington State Fire Marshal’s Office says licenses for fireworks stands are up more than 13% over last year. That’s 85 more stands across the state for a total of 707. An operator must have the state license before a city or county can issue a permit to operate the stand. The two biggest counties for increases in licenses are west of the mountains in Pierce County and Whatcom County. Legal fireworks sales begin June 28th and end July 5th. Be sure to check with your city or county to see if it’s legal to use them. Most local areas don’t allow anything that “goes up or blows up”. Asotin County, Asotin City, and Clarkston all follow state law with a time amendment. That means you can use approved fireworks on:
-July 3rd: 9am -11pm
-July 4th: 9am – Midnight
-July 5th: 9am – 11pm

Garfield County and Pomeroy follow state laws directly. That means you can use approved fireworks on:
-June 28th: 12pm – 11pm
-June 29th – July 3rd: 9am – 11pm
-July 4th: 9am – Midnight
-July 5th: 9am – 11pm
