Clearwater County Courthouse Caller ID Scam

Local Residents Getting "Spoofed"

OROFINO, ID – You may get a scam call from what looks like the Clearwater County Courthouse.  A County representative says someone is using their number “spoofing” local residents.  They say spoofing is when a caller deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to your caller ID display to disguise their identity.  It’s usually used to trick you into giving away valuable personal information to use fraudulently.  The county has put up more information about spoofing on their website at clearwatercounty.org.
