Lapwai School Lockdown

Student Conversation About a Weapon | Today

LAPWAI, ID – A student conversation initiated a lockdown at Lapwai middle and high school this morning.  A representative for the Nez Perce Tribe says the students mentioned someone might bring a weapon to school.  Police haven’t released what the weapon was.

Nez Perce Tribal Police and Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Deputies searched the school and didn’t find any kind of weapon.

The Lapwai School District posted on their facebook page earlier today that the lockdown was connected to a situation last night, but they haven’t released any more details.

The Tribe representative says she can’t confirm today’s events were connected to any previous situations.  She says she doesn’t know of anyone who was arrested, and no one was hurt.  The lockdown started at about 9:00 this morning and lasted about two and a half hours.
