Chief Joseph Foundation Event Nearly Doubles Goal

Funds For Youth Horse Arena For Cultural Learning

LEWISTON, ID – The first-ever Blue Skies & Trail Rides Fundraiser was a huge success for the Chief Joseph Foundation.  The event, held November 10th, will help build an indoor horse arena.  The arena will help teach Tribal and under-served area youth about Nez Perce history, heritage, and culture.  With a goal of $20,000, donor purchases reached $38,338 through auction buying, ticket sales, sponsorships, and cash donations.

Next up for the Chief Joseph Foundation is breaking ground on the arena.  Early in 2019, the foundation will begin making progress on what will become an educational opportunity for local youth.  The Appaloosa horse is an important part of Nez Perce culture and through horsemanship skills and equestrian activities at the arena, kids will be able to put their spare time to good use.

If members of the community would like to donate to the cause, they can contact Stacia Morfin at the Chief Joseph Foundation.  Her email address is
