Former Lewiston Man Arrested In California
Alleged Sexual Involvement With Lewiston 16-Year-Old
LEWISTON, ID – A former Lewiston man is behind bars in California today on charges of sex offense involving a 16-year-old Lewiston girl. LPD Investigators say 24-year-old Jessie Daniel Barnes and the victim exchanged numerous sexually explicit photos and videos between October and December this year.
A press release says because of the online relationship, Barnes travelled to Lewiston from Lemoore, California with the intent of having sexual contact with the victim. Police say he stayed at a local motel between the 26th and 30th of November when the contact occurred.
LPD Officers say they found out about the offense when Barnes was already driving back to California. After they collected the messages, photos, and video, police officers arrested Barnes when he arrived in California.
He’s charged with three felony counts related to possession of child pornography, communicating with a minor with intent to commit specified acts, and arrangements for meeting with a minor for the purpose of engaging in certain lewd and lascivious behavior.
Lewiston Police officers urge parents to be diligent in monitoring their children’s use of the internet and social media. You should report any suspicious conversations or sexual exploitation to the authorities or report it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Their number is 1-800-846-5678.
