WA House Bill Requires Replacement of Some Wood Stoves
Also Increases The Cost Of New Ones
OLYMPIA, WA – A woodstove will cost you more in Washington if a proposed bill goes through. Right now there’s a $30 fee attached to the price of a new woodstove that goes to the state for woodstove education and enforcement. The price would go up to $50 per unit and come with extra legal specifics.
If you are remodeling 60% or more of your home or building, you’ll be required to throw out the old one if it doesn’t meet the new pollution specifics.
The law would also apply to construction of new homes and buildings that are in a location designated by the county as an Urban Growth Area, generally cities and towns.
House Bill 1567 would not apply to fireplaces.
