Three Men Charged In Counterfeit Lotto Scheme

LEWISTON, ID – Three men successfully redeemed counterfeit lottery tickets until a suspicious employee caught their license plate number and reported it to police.  Sunday Lewiston Police Officers were investigating several complaints of the men who ended up getting more than $800 from the scheme before getting arrested.

After the employee gave them the license plate number, officers located the rental car and stopped it on D Street downtown.  A press release from the LPD says they found three men inside, Lucas S. Chance of Spokane, Rodney K. Olson of Post Falls, and John W. Day of Spokane.  A search warrant for the car resulted in computer equipment, paper, and a printer used to manufacture the counterfeit tickets.  LPD officers seized more than 40 counterfeit tickets from the vehicle in addition to drug paraphernalia.

All three men were arrested for felony possession of counterfeit or altered state lottery tickets and taken to jail.  More charges may be added once the investigation is complete.
