Work Starts On Winchester Grade Passing Lane

Full Project Done Fall 2020

WINCHESTER, ID – The passing lane up Winchester Grade is going to be three miles longer soon.  Work is just beginning on Highway 95 as contractors replace signs and guardrails in preparation for construction to extend the extra lane in the canyon.

For the next month work will be mostly on the shoulders of the roadway.  During the early construction, one lane will be open in each direction during the day and weekends.

Once the preliminary work is done, crews will start blasting, which will require temporary closures around 6:00 pm for about an hour.  There is no detour possible, so travelers will have to wait until it’s done.

The work should be done by November, but the entire project won’t be finished until fall next year.  The plan is to have a passing lane between Winchester and Culdesac.
