Tribe Issues Evacuation Warning
Be Ready To Leave
LAPWAI, ID - If you live in low-lying lands, the Nez Perce Tribal Executive Committee suggests you get ready to evacuate. The rising rivers, creeks, and potential for slides are prompting the warning.
A release from the Tribe says you should pack only belongings that are necessary like a change of clothes, medication, toiletries, and things like that. The Pi-Nee-Waus Community Center in Lapwai and the Wa-A’Yas Community Center in Kamiah are shelters that have supplies. You can use those if you need to. The release also reminds evacuaees to remember to turn off propane tanks.
If you have family who may be evacuated, they recommend you check on your loved ones and help them get to safety if they need it.
Donations of food and supplies are welcome at the community centers.
Sandbags are available at the Pi-Nee-Waus Community Center in Lapwai and the Wa-A’Yas Community Center in Kamiah.
