Man Headed For Closed Road Dies From Crash Injuries

Yesterday

OROFINO, ID – A Nezperce, ID man died yesterday after failing to yield to an Idaho State Police Trooper.  A report from the ISP says a Trooper tried to stop 37-year-old Michael H. Gerten who was headed for a road closure.  The report says Gerten failed to negotiate a curve on Old State highway 7 near Orofino.  Gerten was initially transported to Clearwater Valley Hospital, then airlifted to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.  That’s where he died from his injuries.

The report says they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
