Hwy 12 Closed Until Better Weather

At Least 10 Areas Closed Since Tuesday

GREER, ID – Highway 12 may be shut down for some time between Orofino and Kamiah.  The Idaho Transportation Department announced that until the forecast changes the highway will remain closed.

The first mudslide closed the road Tuesday and there have been more than ten areas between Greer and Kamiah that have been blocked or had water on the roadway.  The ITD says crews are actively trying to clear the road, but slides remain active.

ITD Operations Manager Bob Schumacher said “Right now we are at the mercy of the weather. Conditions out there are unpredictable, so we ask that driver remain patient as we work hard to reopen the road.”
