State Of Emergency Continues For Nez Perce Tribe

LAPWAI, ID – The State of Emergency continues on Nez Perce Tribe lands.  A press release says they urge people to use caution while on the roads.  Rain and snow both fell in areas creating questionable conditions.

A major area of concern is the Glenwood region.  Residents of the Tom Ta Ha Creek Canyon, below Adams Grade Road, are advised to stay alert and be prepared to evacuate. Pack only necessary belongings, move your pets or take them to higher ground, and make sure your propane tank is turned off and secure.  They’re working to fix the situation, but if the worst happens, residents will need to leave quickly.

Maggie Creek above Kooskia is another area of concern.  The Tribe suggests that if you live in that area, remember that the Wa-A’Yas Community Center is open if you need to leave your home.  There’s also a shelter open at the Life Center Pentecostal Church in Kamiah.  The address is 4432 Highway 12.
