Lewiston, Lapwai, Asotin, and Clarkston School Districts are the schools participating in the Teacher of the Month program. If you would like to nominate a teacher from one of these school districts, a nomination form can be filled out on DailyFly.com. One teacher will be chosen each month based on nomination letters received through Dailyfly.com
Here is the letter of nomination that was received for Mr. Schmidt:
Being a Machining teacher, you are frequently overlooked. The impacts that you make are not always seen as significant as those of other teachers. Schmidt gave me the confidence I needed to be a female and a male dominated class. I went in knowing little to nothing about machining and left as one of the best machinists. Going into machining one, I was nervous and greatly outnumbered by boys. Schmidt made me feel comfortable enough to ask any questions I had and blossom into a great machinist. The class ended up becoming a family who supported and pushed one another. By the end of our senior year, we were inseparable, in and out of class. Schmidt has so much compassion for the students in his class and for the trade in general, it inspires others. I want to find that joy in my career, just like he did. I am so thankful for Schmidt. I will never be able to repay him for his kindness, support, and endless memories.
