"Poor Baby’s" Sign Changes Negotiation Tone

Clearwater Paper / USW & IBEW Unions

LEWISTON, ID – Union members say during yesterday’s rally on Mill Road, the Plant Manager drove by with a sign that said “Poor Baby’s”.  A statement from the USW and IBEW Unions says “this action by the Plant Manager has now changed the entire tone of negotiations.”

A spokesperson for Clearwater Paper responded this morning by saying “It was an unfortunate incident and does not represent the company view of labor negotiations or our employees.”

The negotiations continue today on the contracts for members of both unions.  The sticking points so far have been wages and medical insurance.  Yesterday, union members were sure to point out that the picketing was not a strike, it was a rally for support of good contracts.
