Police Memorial Honors Lewiston’s Fallen Officers

371 New Names Added To National Memorial This Year

LEWISTON, ID – 371 New names have been added to the national memorial honoring fallen law enforcement officers this year.  May 15th is Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the week surrounding it is Police Week.  Lewiston Police Department chose today to hold a ceremony honoring their five officers who gave all in the Department’s history.

During the ceremony, Chief Budd Hurd mentioned that 2018 was an especially bad year for law enforcement, losing 371 officers in the United States.  None of those officers, deputies, and troopers were in Lewiston, but he asked that citizens keep Nez Perce Tribal Police Officer Josh Rigney in their thoughts.  He was shot in a targeted attack in his Lewiston home last month.
