Asotin Chief Getting Ready For Fireworks
"Safe & Sane" Legal During Specific Dates/Times
ASOTIN, WA – Law enforcement officers and firefighters in Asotin are sending out an early warning about Independence Day fun this year.
In the City of Asotin, you can let off legal fireworks on July 3rd between 9:00 am and 11:00 pm, July 4th between 9:00 am and midnight, and July 5th between 9:00 am and 11:00 pm.
Last year the City of Asotin Fire Department only responded to two fireworks-related fire calls. AFD Lieutenant Dwayne Paris says it’s because people in town have largely been using legal fireworks, and using them safely.
The only legal fireworks to light off are the ones considered “safe and sane”. If they blow up or go up, they’re probably illegal.
If you do buy fireworks, just because you bought it at a stand does not necessarily make them legal. There are firework stands outside of town that sell fireworks that are illegal to use in town.
Some good tips the Asotin Police Department wants to pass along are to have a hose ready to go that can reach the area where you’re lighting the fireworks, keep a bucket of water handy, wear safety glasses, and never try to re-light a firework that didn’t go off.
We have attached two handy flyers below that can be helpful figuring out what’s legal and what’s not.
