"Little Fire" Burning Near Big Butte

4 Acres | Burning In Old Logging Unit

ASOTIN COUNTY, WA – A wildfire burning in the Blue Mountains has expanded to about four acres in size overnight.  The Forest Service is calling it the “Little Fire”.  It’s burning near Big Butte southwest of Anatone.  They say it’s burning in grass, timber, and slash on an old logging unit.

There’s currently a ten-person firefighting team working to control it with one engine.  They have two more engines on the way.

Fire leaders expect to have it contained today and mopped up tomorrow with only a little more growth.  They say the cool, wet weather is helping their efforts.

The cause of the fire is still undetermined.
