Hwy 95 Closed For Several Hours in Culdesac Canyon Tonight
Clearing A Tipped Crane & Blasting
CULDESAC, ID – Starting at 7:00 pm tonight, you may get held up on Highway 95 in Culdesac Canyon for more than an hour. The Idaho Transportation Department is both blasting rock and clearing a crane that fell over Saturday afternoon.
At 7:00 pm, the construction crew plans to do some blasting, after which they’ll have to clear the debris. That’s expected to take an hour and a half. Between 10:00 pm and 4:00 am even longer closures will be needed to remove the crane. It toppled Saturday afternoon onto the highway. Crews will likely allow traffic to pass around midnight, but between midnight and 4:00 am, there may not be a chance to get through.
The crane fell while installing a temporary bridge. No one was hurt when it happened.
The ITD says blasting operations are planned for the next two years while they widen the road and make a new lane and other improvements. They do not plan to have any traffic impacts between July 3rd and the 5th while drivers make their way north and south during the holiday.
