WA Bear Hunting Rules Change

WA Bear Hunting Rules Change

State-wide Start: Aug 1st

OLYMPIA, WA – Fish & Wildlife Commissioners loosened up the fall bear-hunting season rules.  All hunting areas start their season August 1st now.  Six of the 11 areas in the state started at different times previously.  The new bag limit is two bears.  Previously it was two, but only one could be taken from the east side of the state, now it’s two from anywhere.

Eric Gardner, WDFW wildlife program director said “We chose to bring these two changes forward because they will simplify the regulations and have little impact on our goal of maintaining sustainable black bear populations in Washington.”

Hunters are still expected to report their season through the WILD system by January 31st, 2020.
The rules were voted in 6-1 on June 28th.  The go into effect August 1st this year.
