Man Shot In The Face After Refusing Drug Deal

Grazing Wound

ASOTIN COUNTY, WA – An alleged deal involving drugs left one Asotin County man shot in the face on July 4th. Luckily for him it was just a grazing wound.  A release from the Asotin County Sheriff’s Office says 19-year-old Keanu Caren was at a residence at 1650 13th Street when it happened.

The release goes on to say that Caren’s mother told investigators that Caren got a text message about an invitation to a home where there was Xanax and alcohol.  Caren went there and met with 26-year-old Chantzelor Burbage.  Burbage then told Caren that a mutual friend owed him money for a bag of psychogenic mushrooms.  Burbage then asked Caren to help him get the money back.  Caren’s mother continued to tell the story to investigators saying Caren refused the request. The statement says Burbage started shouting at Caren who then turned around.  That’s when Burbage shot him in the face.

A search warrant resulted in a .357 revolver loaded with “snake shot”.

Burbage is charged with 1st Degree Assault with other possible charges.

Caren was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center by family where he was treated for non-life-threatening wounds.
