Gardner Minshew Struggles in First NFL game

JACKSONVILLE, FL - Gardner Minshew struggled in his opening game against the Baltimore Ravens during week one of the preseason. The Jaguars got shut out 29-0, with Minshew taking most of the reps at the quarterback position. Foles didn't even suit up for the Jaguars, so Minshew got to start his first NFL game.

Minshew struggled with not having a lot of guys on the field with him that had much if any NFL experience and that did not help the sixth round draft pick. Minshew of course got licked hard in the second quarter after a bobbled snap and sadly, that was the most notable Minshew moment in this game. He finished the game 7/14 for 47 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions.

Despite the bad performance, Minshew still stood out as the best quarterback to take the field that game, Tanner Lee the QB that Minshew is battling with for the back up job went 0/3 with one interception that was returned for six and he was on the ground three times.

Lee's first three plays went sack-sack-interception for a touchdown, so right when you thought things were looking down for Minshew, his competition somehow has a worse game.

The Jaguars will be back in action next Thursday against the Phillidalphia Eagles, Minshew is going to need to have a big bounce back week if fans and the coaches are going to feel comfortable with him backing up Foles for the 2019 season.
