Power Pole Fire Turns into Field Fire

On Monday Deputies from the Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a fire under a power pole on Eagles Pointe Blvd near Arie Dr.. When the first Deputy arrived on Eagles Pointe he noticed a fire in a field on the right under another power pole. He continued on to the fire near Arie Dr. and directed the following Deputy to the field fire. Another Deputy was asked to check the Harvest Vista area as it seemed the fire was following the power lines. The Harvest Vista area was checked and nothing was found. The fires were eventually put out with the help of Wheatlands fire and a couple of citizens. Avista was called and advised of the situation. Avista shut the power lines off and got a crew on scene very quickly. The fires were contained near the two power poles and no private property was damaged. The Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the citizens that helped spray water on the fires, and to the Wheatlands Fire crew for their quick response. We would also like to thank Avista for their quick and timely response to the fires.
