Clarkston and Pullman to Move out of the Great Northern League Next Academic School Year
CLARKSTON, WA - Clarkston and Pullman will be moving out of the Great Northern League next academic year - moving to the new 2A Greater Spokane League. The Great Northern League will disband after the spring sports season.
Pullman Radio along with the Lewiston Tribune were the first two sources to confirm this move.
This move was decided after it was announced that Cheney was moving into the 3A conference, leaving the Great Northern League with only four teams. Pullman and Clarkston will be the only teams in the Greater Spokane League that aren't from the Spokane area.
According to Stephen Wiebe of the Lewiston Tribune, the biggest positive of this move is more opportunities for state tournament bids. The way things are now, the Great Northern League has to participate in a crossover game with the Central Washington Athletic Conference for an additional berth to state tournaments.
