Asotin County Library Phase II Construction Begins in January

CLARKSTON, WA – The library went out to bid for Phase II of the building remodel in October. Bids were opened on November 7 with Leone & Keeble, Inc. submitting the lowest bid. The Library Board of Trustees accepted the bid at their November 19 meeting.
Construction is scheduled to begin on January 20, 2020. In order to be ready for construction, staff and volunteers will need to move all of the books, book shelves and furniture that are in the areas to be remodeled and empty out staff offices. Hence, the main building be closed for a little over 2 weeks before construction begins. The library will close the main building on January 2 and resume operations in the library’s Annex, located at 407C Sycamore St, on January 6.
It is estimated that the construction will take approximately 120 days, or four months. Library services will be functioning from the Annex for that time plus two weeks on each end.
The Library’s Heights branch, located at 2036 4th Ave, will extend its hours to accommodate the anticipated increase in usage at the branch. Beginning January 6 the Heights branch will be open from 10am – 5pm Monday through Saturday. All Asotin County Library branches are closed on Sunday.
If you would like to volunteer to help with moving books, bookshelves and furniture, please contact Erin Kolb at ekolb@aclib.org or 509-758-5454.
