Lien Signs a Pair of Idaho Natives to 2020-21 Golf Rosters
LEWISTON, Idaho – Head coach Kyla Lien added two Idaho natives to next year’s golf rosters with the signings of Lake City High School’s Kyla Currie and Mountain View High School’s Avery Falash.
At Coeur d’Alene’s Lake City High School, Currie has helped the team to three regional championships and won individual medalist honors as a sophomore and junior. She placed seventh at the state tournament as a sophomore and sixth as a junior. Currie was named the team’s Newcomer of the year as a freshman, and MVP as a sophomore and junior. She has carried a 3.5 GPA through three years of high school.
“Kyla is a great student and a very driven individual,” Lien said,” so she will bring a lot to the team. She is an impressive golfer and has had a lot of success in her high school and junior golf career. I am excited to be her coach and watch her succeed and reach her goals.”
Falash, a Meridian, Idaho native, holds a 72 scoring average and took home medalist honors at the Gate City Invitational last season. He placed third at districts and fourth at state. Falash has helped his team advance to the state tournament all three years, and to a district championship as a junior. He was voted all-conference as a sophomore and junior and is the No. 5 ranked golfer in the state of Idaho.
“Avery is a very hard worker on the course and in the classroom,” Lien explained. “He is one of the top players in Idaho. I have seen a lot of growth in the last year and I think he will continue to bloom and succeed at the collegiate level.”
