Update #5 From the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office Regarding Silver Mountain Avalanche

From the Shoshone County Sheriff's Office.

The search for a missing skier continues today, Thursday, January 9th, at Silver Mountain with 120 search and rescue responders participating in the operation. With a short break in the weather, 2 Bear Air, a search and rescue aviation support team out of Whitefish Montana, is assisting in the search utilizing special equipment, that, if successful, will significantly minimize the search area on Wardner Peak. Also aiding in today’s search are several avalanche K9 teams from around the Northwest.
At this time, the SCSO is ready to release the names of the two individuals killed in the Wardner Peak Avalanche on January 7th. Carl William Dick Humphreys, 58, Liberty Lake, Washington and Scott Michael Parsons, 46, of Spokane Valley, Washington. We would like to thank everyone for their patience with the release of the victims’ names as it is important to allow family the time to make proper notifications to extended family and friends.
More information on the ongoing search operation will be made available as circumstances change.
