Olsen and Adams Open Track and Field Season with Weekly Honors

WHITEFISH, Montana – Cole Olsen and Emily Adams opened the 2020 indoor track and field season with standout performances at the Vandal Open on Saturday, and both earned Frontier Conference Track Athlete of the Week honors. Both had strong cross country seasons and have carried that momentum onto the track.

“We are excited to start the year off strongly, and winter is a tough time to get good solid training in so to see both Emily and Cole start the season so well and endure through the training is a nice recognition for their hard work,” head coach Mike Collins said.  “I am looking forward to seeing more Warriors perform well in the future.”

Olsen qualified for indoor nationals in the 3000m run in his first race of the season. The junior finished second in the field of mostly NCAA Division I runners with a time of 8:36.92. He holds the fourth fastest time in the NAIA this season.

Adams was just shy of the qualifying mark when she placed sixth in the 3000m on Saturday. The junior clocked a personal-record time of 10:39.37 in the pack of 23.

The Warriors are back in action on Jan. 23 when they head back to Moscow for the Idaho Open.
