Safer Internet Day is February 11

PULLMAN – The Pullman Police Department, as an affiliate agency for the Washington State Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce (WA ICAC TF), is pleased to announce participation and promotion of Safer Internet Day on February 11, 2020. Safer Internet Day is an awareness-raising campaign that started in Europe more than a decade ago, to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology, especially among children and young people. It's the one day of the year when people all over the planet - 100+ countries! - are sending the message that making the internet great for everybody takes everybody. We encourage everyone to take a moment on February 11th and talk about how to keep themselves, their families, and their friends safer on-line. This may include privacy settings on social media, using parental controls for internet searches and to limit the length of time that children are online, as well as discussing online relationships and sharing personal information. The Pullman Police Department provides internet safety presentations to schools, parents, community members and community organizations throughout the year. If you are interested in scheduling a presentation, please contact us at (509) 334-0802 or police@pullman-wa.gov.
