Lewiston - Structure Fire On Preston Avenue

At 3:28 am this morning the Lewiston Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 420 Preston Avenue. First arriving crews found an unattached shop fully involved with fire.

Crews were able to knock down the fire within 15 minutes. The shop and all contents were a total loss.

Crews remained on scene for approximately an hour to monitor the scene and put out hot spots. There was no damage to the residence.

The department responded with 3 structural engines, 3 ambulances, and 1 chief officer totaling 15 personnel.

The cause of the fire was an electric heater left to close to combustibles.

The estimated damage to the structure and contents is
about $75,000.

There were no citizen for firefighter injuries.
