Update on Body Found in the Snake River

POMEROY, Washington- July 4th, 2020


On July 3rd, 2020, the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Whitcom who advised of a dead body in the Snake River near 21 Wawawai Grade Rd in Garfield County.  Whitman County deployed their marine unit and recovered the body.  Garfield County Coroner and deputies responded, and the coroner pronounced the person dead at the scene.

The deceased person, identified as Troy Cleve Genn of Clarkston, WA, had been kayaking near the Port of Clarkston when his kayak apparently capsized.  The kayak was recovered by Asotin County and his vehicle was located at a nearby boat launch on 6/24/2020.

Notifications were made by Asotin County, and Genn’s body was removed from the scene by Merchant Funeral Home in Clarkston.
