(LEWISTON) Saturday Evening Collision on Levee Bypass Rd

On July 25th, 2020 at approximately 9:13pm, Lewiston Police were dispatched to a traffic collision at the intersection of Levee Bypass Road and "D" Street. The information was that a motorcycle had been involved in a collision with a mini-van. Information from witnesses also indicated that the motorcycle rider was injured. On scene, officers found a 2004, Yamaha motorcycle in the intersection and it was leaking fluid. The rider had been thrown off the motorcycle and medics were called to the scene to treat the injuries. The other vehicle involved was a 1997, Dodge Caravan, the driver of which was unhurt. The rider of the motorcycle was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The names of the involved individuals are not being released at this time while the collision is under investigation. At this time, it appears that the motorcycle was traveling Northbound on Levee Bypass and the mini-van was traveling Southbound on Levee Bypass and attempted to make a left turn onto "D" Street when the mini-van and the motorcycle collided. The Lewiston Police Department's Major Collision Investigation Team (MCIT) was called to the scene to investigate. The intersection of Levee Bypass and "D" Street was closed for approximately three hours during the investigation. At this time, there have been no charges filed as the collision is still under investigation.
