EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING

EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM PDT FRIDAY

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values of  104 up to 109.

* WHERE...In Washington, Lower Garfield and Asotin Counties,  Moses Lake Area, Upper Columbia Basin, lower elevations of the  Okanogan Highlands, Wenatchee Area, Okanogan Valley and  Waterville Plateau. In Idaho, Lewiston Area.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM PDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Extreme heat will significantly increase the  potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those  working or participating in outdoor activities.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.

Continued hot conditions with near record high temperatures on Friday. There will be dry and breezy westerly winds on Friday.

Saturday: Mostly sunny and hot, winds up to 7mph, mostly clear night. 99/69.

Sunday: Sunny and hot day, mostly clear night. 98/68.

Monday: Sunny day, mostly clear night. 94/64.

Palouse Area:

Today: Sunny and hot, mostly clear night, winds up to 8mph. 101/61.

Saturday: Mostly sunny day, winds up to 7mph, mostly clear night. 92/58.
