AIR QUALITY ALERT

Benewah-Bonner-Boundary-Kootenai-Latah-Lewis-Nez Perce-Shoshone-Including the cities of Plummer, Tensed, Sandpoint, Priest River, Blanchard, Careywood, Bonners Ferry, Moyie Springs, Porthill, Eastport, Naples, Coeur d`Alene, Post Falls, Hayden, Worley, Bayview, Rathdrum, Athol, Moscow, Potlatch, Deary, Genesee, Juliaetta, Kendrick, Kamiah, Craigmont, Nezperce, Winchester, Lewiston, Lapwai, Peck, Culdesac, Gifford, Kellogg, Pinehurst, Osburn, Wallace, Mullan, Smelterville, and Calder.

Air Pollution Forecast and Caution has been extended by the following agencies through Friday morning:

Idaho Department of Environmental Quality in Lewiston

Smoke is expected to continue through rest of the week as an extensive area of smoke from the west moves into the region.

Air quality across the region could vary from moderate to hazardous. Open burning restrictions are in effect.

Due to wildfire smoke, health impacts may occur. Pollutants in smoke can cause burning eyes, runny nose, aggravate heart and lung diseases, and aggravate other serious health problems. Limit outdoor activities and keep children indoors if it is smoky. Please follow medical advice if you have a heart or lung condition.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Idaho, North Central Idaho, Central Washington, East Central Washington, Northeast Washington and Southeast Washington.

WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY

Wildfire smoke will likely continue to create reduced air quality through most of the workweek. Some improvement may occur over the weekend as the chances of rain increase.

 

Lewiston Area:       

Today: Widespread haze, widespread smoke, sunny day, winds up to 5mph. high 79/ low 61.

Thursday: Widespread haze, widespread smoke, sunny, winds up to 5mph, partly cloudy night. 75/61.

Friday: 50% chance of showers, partly sunny day, showers likely and possible a thunderstorm before 11pm, mostly cloudy night. 77/59.

Saturday: 50% chance of showers, partly sunny day, 20% chance of showers before 11pm, partly cloudy night. 75/55.

Palouse Area:

Today: Widespread haze, widespread smoke, sunny day, winds up to 6mph, mostly clear night. 78/58.

Thursday: Widespread haze, widespread smoke, sunny day, light and variable wind, partly cloudy night. 79/49.

Friday: 50% chance of showers, partly sunny day, mostly cloudy night. 71/47.

Saturday: 50% chance of showers, partly sunny day, partly cloudy night. 67/44.

Prairie Area:

Today: Widespread haze, widespread smoke, sunny day, winds up to 7mph, mostly clear night. 75/54.

Thursday: Widespread haze, widespread smoke, sunny day, 20% chance of showers after 11pm, partly cloudy night. 80/52.

Friday: 60% chance of showers, partly sunny day, 90% chance of nighttime showers and thunderstorms. 67/49.
