Alabama vs. Ohio State College Football Championship Preview
MIAMI, FL - The #1 Alabama Crimson Tide and the #3 Ohio State Buckeyes are set to do battle today in Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla. This is a face-off between two true powerhouse programs. Kick-off is set for 5 P.M. PT.
The Tide (12-0) are in their fifth CFP National Championship game under Head Coach Nick Saban, after defeating #4 Notre Dame 31-14 in the semi-final game. This would be the program's sixth national title under Head Coach Nick Saban if they're able to take down the Buckeyes, and boy do they have the offensive fire power to do it, as Alabama's offense averages 48.2 points per game.
This is Ohio State's fourth CFP appearance, and second visit to the Championship game. The Buckeyes beat Oregon 42-20 back in 2014 to win their most recent Championship. The Buckeyes only played seven games in the regular season, finishing 7-0, but their selection to the College Football Playoff drew criticism as they had played fewer games than their counterparts to get to this stage. However, they answered all doubts as they knocked off #3 Clemson 49-28. Ohio State Quarterback Justin Fields is coming off of a 6-TD performance against Clemson, though he is banged up after taking a nasty hit during the contest. Second-year coach Ryan Day expects Fields to play.
The last time these two teams faced off was in 2014, when Ohio State upset the Crimson Tide 42-35 in the Sugar Bowl.
