Emperor of India Fire Cause Remains Undetermined

The Idaho State Fire Marshal’s Office has concluded their investigation into a fire that took place at 858 Main Street in Lewiston, Idaho on December 9, 2019.

The cause of this fire has been listed as undetermined based upon the examination conducted, the evidence and information collected, and the analysis of that information.

When the Lewiston Fire Department responded to this fire on December 9, 2019, it was clear that the building was significantly damaged. Due to the size of the fire and damaged caused by the fire, Lewiston Fire Chief Travis Myklebust requested the assistance of the Idaho State Fire Marshal’s Office to serve as an independent thirdparty to conduct the investigation.

The investigation began the morning of December 10, 2019, and it was led by Deputy State Fire Marshal Jason Blubaum, along with the assistance of Deputy State Fire Marshal Case Strong. The Lewiston Fire Department, Lewiston Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives assisted in the investigation.

Without additional evidence or information, the specific cause of the fire will remain undetermined and this investigation will remain open for both the Lewiston Fire Department and Lewiston Police Department.
