Idaho County Sheriff’s Office Issues Winter Driving Advisory

GRANGEVILLE, ID - The Idaho County Sheriff's Office has issued a winter driving advisory for Friday and into Saturday. Snow will remain continuous throughout the day today (Friday) and overnight tonight. Light to moderate snow will intensify through the day Saturday. Expect 6-8 inches for the Camas Prairie Region including White Bird Hill & Riggins.

We have had several reports of slide offs on Johnston Cutoff Rd, White Bird Grade & Highway 162. None so far have been road blocking or with injury, and are getting cleaned up pretty quick, we expect to see more throughout the weekend.

We are urging drivers to stay off the roads and advising local road departments and ITD of areas that are exceptionally bad.

We have had multiple incidents of vehicles sliding off the road due to poor road conditions. Please stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. The incidents are getting cleared up quickly, but traffic incidents will continue to happen throughout the weekend, use extra caution when travelling.

The following areas in the region are being affected the most:

  • Highway 95 from Riggins to Ferdinand, especially White Bird Grade Johnston Cutoff Highway 162 Highway 12 from the Upper Lochsa to Lolo Pass.
  • Highway 14

Snow will remain continuous throughout the day today (Friday) and overnight tonight. Light to moderate snow will intensify through the day Saturday. Expect 6-8 inches for the Camas Prairie Region including White Bird Hill & Riggins.

North winds will strengthen Saturday afternoon and persist through Sunday, resulting in blowing and drifting of snow. Wind speeds of 10 to 15 mph will be most likely, however White Bird Hill and similar elevations could see up to 25 mph.
