There were reported explosions in the area as well.

CLARKSTON, WA - Two Clarkston homes were heavily damaged by fire early Monday morning. Clarkston Firefighters responded to reports of explosions and homes on fire in the 600 block of 12th Street at about 1:30 am. When the first crews arrived two homes were on fire with a large fire between the two, which had been a carport. Fire crews immediately searched both homes for any occupants.

It was reported one home may have had squatters living inside. A woman and two children were living in the other home and all had evacuated safely.

Crews from Asotin County Fire District #1 responded through auto aid and another engine and crew were called in from Lewiston City Fire Department to help with the blaze. The fire was brought under control within about 20 minutes and firefighters remained on the scene to watch for hotspots.

Avista crews responded to secure gas and downed power lines. Neither home was inhabitable. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and there were no reported injuries.
