One Pronounced Dead at the Scene After Crash South of Lapwai

LAPWAI -- Idaho State Police are investigating a two-vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 11:07 a.m. today on U.S. Highway 95 at milepost 295 south of Lapwai in Nez Perce County.

The collision involved a Honda CRV and a Kia sedan. It appears one of the vehicles crossed the center line and the two cars collided.


The female driver of the Honda, a 56-year-old woman from Culdesac, was the only occupant. She was transported to the hospital via ground ambulance. Two people were in the Kia. The male passenger, a 79-year-old man from Washington, D.C., was also transported to a nearby hospital by ground ambulance. The driver of the Kia, a 78-year-old woman from Washington, D.C. was deceased on scene. Idaho State Police are working to notify next of kin.

Traffic was blocked in both directions for nearly an hour to allow emergency responders to assist those involved.

This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
