Grangeville PD is Investigating Apparent Accidental Shooting Leaving Child in Hospital

GRANGEVILLE -- On Saturday, October 9 at approximately 7:49 p.m. the Grangeville Police Department was dispatched to the 700 block of North C Street in Grangeville, Idaho in reference to a female child that had possibly been shot at that location. 

Officers arrived within one minute of the call and found that the victim has been transported to Syringa Hospital in a private vehicle. Additional officers were sent to Syringa Hospital, while the officer on scene began his investigation. 

The juvenile victim was later flown by air ambulance to Spokane for additional treatment for her wounds. The initial investigation led to the recovery of a weapon possibly used in the incident and it is believed at this time, that the shooting was accidental in nature. 

The Grangeville Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident and is waiting on forensic evaluation of the weapon and additional medical records.

Due to the age of the individuals involved, their names will not be released.
