Jon Lang Running for Lewiston School Board
LEWISTON – Jon Lang is running for the Lewiston School Board to ensure that kids are put first and to see Lewiston Schools grow.
Living in Lewiston for 31 years, Lang and his wife have put all three of their children through the Lewiston School District, their youngest just graduating last year. Lang went on to mention that they were the reason that sparked him to run for School Board. He believes the current board has done a great job and wants to keep the momentum going.
“I think the School Board did a great job last year keeping kids engaged and learning,” said Lang. “I want to keep that going. As a moderate, I believe there isn’t a need to debate differences in opinions making waves where we don’t need to”.
Listening is something Lang feels is imperative if elected to School Board. He mentioned that having an understanding of the public’s thoughts and ideas is important because no one knows how students and parents feel more than them.
Lang’s main goal in running for School Board is to market Lewiston. He went on to explain that it is essential to have the best teachers, staff, and coaches so Lewiston can see retention within its schools. This, in the end, will help the students learn.
“When teachers retire, we deserve the best candidates,” said Lang. “A lot of people don’t even know about us so they skip over us. When it comes to educating our students and supporting their families, we can never set our sights too high".
Being involved with his kid's education from an outside looking in perspective over the last years, Lang feels like he needs to give back to the schools that gave his family so much. With extensive experience in property management, he is also comfortable compromising, goal setting, and working with team members. Lang mentions these are all values that the School Board could use at their table.
